Ivan Toney has signed with a new agency in an apparent sign of his intention to leave Brentford, with Arsenal among the clubs interested.

The Daily Mail report that Ivan Toney has signed with sports management firm CAA Stellar, in an indication of his intention to leave Brentford.

Toney is currently serving an eight-month ban for breaching betting regulations, and he can’t play again until January, though there has still reportedly been some interest in signing him this summer anyway.

The Times report that Brentford are primarily braced for bids in January, with his valuation expected to be in the region of £80m.

Bids are expected from a number of parties, and Arsenal are among them.

Toney has a contract with Brentford until 2025, so with his betting ban he effectively only has a year and a half left to play for his current club.

It makes sense that they would start to think about selling, particularly if the striker doesn’t intend to extend.

That was the same situation David Raya was in, running down his Brentford deal and showing no desire to extend, which is why they eventually agreed to sell to Arsenal.

Arsenal aren’t the only club in for Toney. The Mail list Manchester United, Chelsea, and Tottenham Hotspur as the frontrunners in the January window, again repeating his £80m valuation.

At that price and with that kind of competition, the move may be a bit of a long shot for Arsenal at this stage.

The Gunners could arguably offer the most exciting project of the bunch, but perhaps not the most lucrative deal.
