Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard have been nominated for the PFA Players’ Player of the Year award, with Arsenal also receiving two Young Player nominations.

The Professional Footballers’ Association announced their six nominees for the Players’ Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards on Thursday, with Arsenal making up a third of both categories.

In the Players’ Player of the Year category, Martin Odegaard joins Bukayo Saka in receiving a nomination. Kevin De Bruyne, Erling Haaland, Harry Kane, and John Stones complete the shortlist.

As for the Young Player of the Year award, Saka once again received a nomination, along with fellow Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli.

Moises Caicedo, Evan Ferguson, Jacob Ramsey, and Haaland complete the Young Player list of nominees.

There’s no doubt that all three Arsenal nominees across the two awards are very deserving of their inclusions. With both awards voted on by players, it’s great to see recognition of their progress from within the game.

In the Premier League, Odegaard scored 15 goals and assisted eight in 37 appearances for Arsenal last season, playing in midfield and taking on the captain’s armband.

Saka scored 14 and assisted a further 11 in his 38 Premier League games, whilst Martinelli scored 15 and assisted five in 36 matches.

Of course, Erling Haaland will be the favourite for both awards, after his record-breaking goalscoring season capped with winning the title.

The winner will be confirmed on Tuesday, August 29th at the 50th anniversary of the PFA Awards’ inception.
