Arsenal transfer target David Raya was spotted by fans in attendance at Wembley for the Community Shield on Sunday.

As Arsenal try to agree a deal with Brentford for the transfer of David Raya, the player has consistently shown his desire to make the move.

Previous reports suggested Raya turned down a loan move to Bayern Munich, informing Brentford he wants to join Arsenal on a permanent deal instead.

Gunners fans spotted a further hint at Raya’s motivation on Sunday, as the goalkeeper turned up to watch his potential new team playing in the Community Shield.

Arsenal fan and Twitter user Shem posted a picture on Twitter of Raya, wearing a hat and a hoodie, likely to obscure his identity.

But the Brentford man was pictured standing alongside teammate Vitaly Janelt, which somewhat gave it away.

For those still dubious, Sam Dean of The Telegraph has confirmed that Raya was indeed watching on at Wembley during the game, it’s not just a couple of lookalikes.

Ultimately, this doesn’t change much. The public were already well aware that Raya wants to join Arsenal, and it’s up to Brentford and Arsenal to agree a fee to make that happen.

David Ornstein reported on Monday morning that Arsenal are still working to finalise that acquisition of the Brentford goalkeeper, with both clubs looking to strike a deal.

But it’s nice for the fans to see a player keen to watch Arsenal in action even before joining the club, whether his presence affects the likelihood of a transfer or not.

Arsenal initially made an opening £20m bid for Raya, with an additional £3m in add-ons.

Ornstein reported that the offer would be turned down, but it was only slightly below what Brentford were looking for.

The Telegraph then reported that the move was progressing quickly, and Fabrizio Romano claimed it could be done by Tuesday. It looks like it could yet be the case.
