Mason Mount, the Manchester United midfielder, will miss the upcoming Premier League matches against Nottingham Forest and Arsenal because of an injury sustained during a 2-0 defeat against Tottenham.

Mason Mount is expected to miss Manchester United’s Premier League matches against Nottingham Forest and Arsenal due to an injury.

Their summer signing picked up a “small complaint” during United’s 2-0 defeat against Tottenham on Saturday and is expected to be “out until the international break next month”, the club have announced.

Mount joined from Chelsea in the summer for £60m and has started both of the club’s Premier League games this season.

The England international’s fellow outfield summer signing Rasmus Højlund has not featured yet this campaign because of a back injury.

Erik ten Hag’s side host Forest at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon before travelling to Arsenal the following weekend in the final fixture ahead of the international break.

“The small complaint is expected to keep Mount out until the international break next month,” a Man United statement read.

“The England midfielder has started both of our Premier League games so far this season after making his competitive debut for the club in last week’s 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford.”

In other United news, the Fenerbahce goalkeeper Altay Bayindir underwent a preliminary medical yesterday in anticipation of a potential move to Old Trafford.

The 25-year-old Turkey international could be signed for €7m as reserve keeper, with Dean Henderson expected to be sold before the transfer deadline.
