Arsenal are set to enter the League Cup in the third round this season, with the draw to take place this week.
As usual, teams to qualify for European competition won’t enter the League Cup until the third round this season.
So whilst the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea are playing in the cup in midweek, Arsenal won’t play their first cup game of the new campaign until the week commencing September 25th.
But with the second round taking place this week, the draw for the next round is now also imminent.
The League Cup third-round draw is set to take place on Wednesday, August 30th, following Doncaster Rovers’ clash with Everton.
The draw is expected at around 22:15 BST, though that timing could be impacted by the Rovers game.
As for how to watch the draw, it will be streamed on the Sky Go app and shown live on Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Football.
The second round of the League Cup will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, August 29th and 30th. There are 24 ties to be played in total, with Premier League clubs involved in the following fixtures:
Tuesday, August 29th
- Wolves vs Blackpool
- Fulham vs Tottenham Hotspur
- Luton Town vs Gillingham
- Newport County vs Brentford
- Plymouth Argyle vs Crystal Palace
- Swansea City vs Bournemouth
Wednesday, August 30th
- Doncaster Rovers vs Everton
- Nottingham Forest vs Burnley
- Sheffield United vs Lincoln City
- Chelsea vs Wimbledon
We’ll have a much better idea of which teams Arsenal can face after those matches have taken place.
