Mohammed Kudus is set to join West Ham United, completing a medical this weekend after links to Arsenal earlier in the transfer window.

Arsenal were linked with a move for Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus throughout 2023, but the 23-year-old appears set to finalise a transfer to West Ham United this weekend.

David Ornstein reported for The Athletic earlier this week that West Ham had agreed to pay Ajax €41.5m plus €3m in add-ons, with Ajax also retaining a 10% sell-on clause.

Kudus is set to sign a five-year contract with an option for a sixth, and Ornstein added that the player would fly to London on Saturday to complete the move.

Sky Sports now report that Kudus has arrived and completed his medical, so the transfer is effectively a formality at this point.

After links to Arsenal earlier in the summer, Kudus briefly appeared to be off the market as reliable reports confirmed Brighton had agreed a fee to sign the midfielder from Ajax.

Yet that deal then fell apart, with various suggestions as to why. There was some talk that Kudus wanted a release clause, or that Brighton couldn’t agree personal terms.

But Arsenal didn’t make a move, with suggestions that they’d need to make significant sales before making another signing.

Instead, the Ghana international is now set for a move to the English capital with West Ham.

Kudus made 42 appearances for Ajax last season, scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists. He’s also made a strong start to the current campaign, with four goals and an assist in his three appearances.

A versatile attacker, Kudus can play in an attacking midfield role, on the wing, or even up front.
