Jorginho’s agent has once again confirmed that the player will stay at Arsenal this summer, despite interest from Saudi Arabia and Spain.
Jorginho and his agent have been very clear all summer that the player will stay with Arsenal for the coming campaign, but this hasn’t stopped media speculation on the subject.
The midfielder has been linked with a move to Italy, interest from Fenerbahce, and his agent confirms clubs in Saudi Arabia and Spain also like him. But once again, the agent confirms Jorginho is not leaving.
“I’m sure, Jorginho will stay at Arsenal. He’s happy in England. Let’s move on,” Joao Santos said.
“I had some calls from Saudi and also Spanish clubs like him but he’s staying at Arsenal, it’s decided.”
The speculation around the Italian international ramped up on Sunday, after it was confirmed he wouldn’t be in the squad for the Community Shield.
But it turned out Jorginho was still with the players on the bench, he’d just suffered a muscle injury and wasn’t fit to feature. He’s since returned to training.
Speaking out on transfer rumours earlier in the summer, Jorginho said he didn’t even know how they came about. As it stood then, he fully intended to stay at Arsenal.
“I’m very happy to stay at Arsenal, to be honest,” Jorginho said.
“Those rumours, I’m not sure who was behind it, to be honest, but nothing at the moment has happened to me. I’m quite happy where I am.
“I hope we can do even better next year. It’s been a while [since Arsenal have been in the Champions League]. Everyone is very excited. Everyone can’t wait to play with the ball with the stars. It’s going to be an exciting season for sure.”
Agent Santos had also previously confirmed that Jorginho has an option to extend his contract at Arsenal to 2025.
“Six beautiful months. Next year he will play in the Champions League,” Santos said.
“Have we already talked about the renewal of the contract? Not yet. We have a contract – with an option – until 2025. For now, we are calm.”
