Football Insider report that Isaac Hayden is undergoing a medical at Luton Town on Monday after an agreement on the terms of a deal with Newcastle United.

Championship clubs Middlesbrough, West Bromwich Albion, Queens Park Rangers, and Millwall were all also reportedly interested in the former Arsenal man, but Hayden looks set to stay in the Premier League with Luton instead.

Eddie Howe has reportedly made it clear to Hayden that he’s not part of the manager’s plans for the coming campaign, and he’s been forced to train away from the main squad.

A transfer was the only sensible move for the 28-year-old, and it looks like a move is now imminent.

Hayden spent last season on loan with Norwich City, making 14 appearances amid a couple of knee injury setbacks.

The midfielder had been a regular for Newcastle United for a number of years, making over 20 league appearances for five seasons in a row.

But Hayden’s knee injury in 2021/22 ended up being the beginning of the end, and he hasn’t made another appearance for Newcastle since then.

Hayden had joined Newcastle from Arsenal, having come through the academy system with the Gunners.

He made a couple of League Cup appearances in north London, before a positive loan spell with Hull City convinced Newcastle United to make a permanent offer.

Newcastle were in the Championship at the time, but they quickly returned to the Premier League. After briefly dropping back down to the English second tier last year, it looks like Hayden is now going to get another chance in the top flight with Luton.
