Olympique de Marseille have commissioned agents to help find Matteo Guendouzi a new club this summer, according to a report.

According to L’Equipe (via GFFN), Ligue 1 club Olympique de Marseille are stepping up their attempts to find a new club for former Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi.

Guendouzi had a difficult end to the 2022/23 campaign, and the club have now commissioned agents to find him a new club, the report claims.

Marseille president Pablo Longoria views the midfielder as a saleable asset, and surplus to requirements in their current squad.

A move back to England is a strong possibility, with West Ham United and Aston Villa reportedly interested.

Reports from earlier this year suggested West Ham were lining up Guendouzi as a possible replacement for Declan Rice, whilst Villa already made an unsuccessful move for the midfielder in the January window.

A transfer to Villa Park would mean a reunion with Unai Emery, of course.

This could all end up being relevant to Arsenal, and not just because Guendouzi would be back in the Premier League.

Guendouzi joined from Arsenal for €12 million, and the Gunners also included a sell-on clause in the contract. The exact percentage is not known, but Arsenal stand to benefit if Marseille find a buyer.
