Former Arsenal forward Gervinho takes a walk down memory lane, praising his time at the club and its then-manager Arsène Wenger

In a revealing interview, Gervinho, the former Arsenal forward, shared heartfelt reflections about his time at the North London club.

A Look back at Arsenal days

While discussing his recent collaboration with Naxxar Lions in Malta, Gervinho didn’t miss the opportunity to reminisce about his Arsenal days.

He recalled, “Arsène is a great person, a great coach of course. Arsène is very calm as a person but he sees everything – he looks for details to do things well. Football and Arsène Wenger are synonymous – he is a man of football.”

Career statistics at Arsenal

During his time at Arsenal from 2011 to 2013, Gervinho featured in 63 games, contributing with 11 goals and 12 assists.

Although not a prolific scorer, his flair and versatility added a dynamic layer to Arsenal’s front line during his tenure although, ultimately, he will always be remembered for *that* miss at Braford.

The Wenger impact

In the interview, the Ivorian winger lauded Wenger’s managerial skills and his eye for detail.

“I’ve enjoyed working with him a lot and even though I stayed at Arsenal for only two years, they were two great years,” Gervinho expressed.

It’s evident that the forward holds Wenger’s management and his Arsenal experience in high regard, attributing his time there as ‘building blocks’ in his career.

A journey through time

Gervinho’s football journey has been diverse, including stints in China with Hebei FC, Turkey with Trabzonspor, and most recently Greece with Aris Saloniki.

Yet, his reflections make it clear that his Arsenal days are among the most cherished periods in his footballing journey.

Future aspirations

Currently a free agent, Gervinho’s focus remains steadfast on his career. “I have more to offer as a player and I still believe I can go on playing for another two to three years,” he shared, dismissing any imminent thoughts of retirement.
