Al-Ittihad were one of the Saudi Arabian clubs to target Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes in recent days, and the defender has other admirers.

Al-Ittihad are currently pushing to secure the signing of Sergio Ramos, but James Benge reports that the Saudi Arabian club only moved onto Ramos after previously targeting Gabriel Magalhaes – among others.

Benge adds that Gabriel has other admirers in Saudi Arabia, with a few days left in the summer transfer window.

Whether we see that admiration progress to a serious move for the Brazilian remains to be seen, but Arsenal have never previously shown any willingness to sell.

John Cross reported earlier this month that Arsenal were aware of the interest in Gabriel, but they’d previously turned away approaches for the centre-back.

Arsenal are reportedly under no pressure to sell, and Cross adds that the fact Jurrien Timber looks set for a lay-off will mean the club are keen that there is no firm bid for Gabriel.

Ryan Taylor then reported for the Express that Arsenal had no plans to sell Gabriel. They’re actually looking to add to their options at left-centre-back, not to subtract from them.

In the past, Arsenal and Gabriel have been clear that they don’t want to part ways. That includes earlier this summer, when Paris Saint-Germain were reportedly considering a move.

Reports suggested then that Gabriel was excited to play in the Champions League with Arsenal, and he wanted to stay at the Emirates Stadium.

The centre-back wasn’t even thinking about a summer move, regardless of the club interested in him.
