Folarin Balogun’s transfer saga has taken another turn, with Fulham now targeting him and AS Monaco seeming to look elsewhere.

As recently as Wednesday, Monaco seemed like Folarin Balogun’s most likely transfer destination this summer.

CBS Sports reported that the Ligue 1 club were were expected to submit another bid for the striker in the coming days, with dialogue ongoing with Arsenal.

There were also hints of interest from West Ham United from the same source, but Monaco appeared to be in the lead.

Yet the picture quickly changed later that day, with L’Equipe (via GFFN) reporting that Monaco were focusing their attention on a deal with Leicester City for Patson Daka.

Daka would reportedly be interested in the move, and negotiations are underway.

That puts Balogun’s situation up in the air again, and Premier League side Fulham could look to take advantage.

Aleksandar Mitrovic looks set for a move to Saudi Arabia for more than £40m, with some reports suggesting Al-Hilal have made a £46m bid, giving Fulham the desire and the funds to add another striker to their ranks.

According to the Daily Mail, the side are now considering a move for Balogun as a potential replacement.

The Evening Standard confirm that Balogun is one of Fulham’s key targets if Mitrovic leaves, with the player seen as a suitable replacement by manager Marco Silva.

But the Standard suggest Fulham would try to reduce Balogun’s £50m asking price significantly.

With West Ham and Fulham in the race for Balogun’s signature, Arsenal may well still get the Premier League bidding war most likely to push the fee close to that asking price.

But there are no guarantees, with Inter Milan and AS Monaco showing how quickly a club can go from being the favourites to being out of the race.

Balogun scored 22 goals on loan with Stade de Reims last season, making 39 appearances in all competitions.
