Nottingham Forest are set to sign Nuno Tavares from Arsenal on loan with an option to buy.
The Daily Mail reported this week that Nottingham Forest had revived their bid to sign Nuno Tavares from Arsenal, hoping to agree a deal with an option to buy.
Forest’s move for Tavares initially appeared to have collapsed, with Aston Villa then showing an interest, but the former club have gone back in for the Arsenal man.
Fabrizio Romano now reports that Forest have agreed a deal for an initial loan with a £1m loan fee, with a £12m option to buy.
Football.London reported earlier in the window that both Werder Bremen and Wolfsburg had made approaches for Tavares, but the player wanted to continue to play in the Premier League.
With two years left on his deal, Arsenal would have been open to selling the former Benfica man, but Forest appear to have secured an initial loan instead.
Tavares finally made his return to training with Arsenal at the start of this month, after his loan spell with Marseille last season and subsequent participation in the u21 European Championship over the summer.
The defender didn’t initially have a number on his shirt or his shorts in training pictures, after he lost the number 20 to Jorginho. But he’s now seemingly been assigned the number 28.
Marseille had looked at making Tavares’ deal permanent after his loan, but they didn’t have an option to buy and didn’t end up agreeing on a price before sending him back to Arsenal.
