  • Inter Milan have shown interest in acquiring 24-year-old Takehiro Tomiyasu from Arsenal.
  • Tomiyasu’s repeated injuries have impacted his position in the team, making him more of a rotational player for Arsenal.
  • Arsenal have reportedly shown a willingness to sell him outright, indicating they may want to reinvest the funds in a new player.

Arsenal’s versatile, but injury-prone, defender, Takehiro Tomiyasu, has drawn significant interest from Inter Milan.

Purchased from Bologna for his capacity to handle both central defence and right-wing roles, Tomiyasu initially enhanced Mikel Arteta’s squad depth.

However, a serious knee injury requiring surgery in March transformed him into a more rotational option within the team, particularly when you consider the calf injuries it comes on the back of.

Last season, Tomiyasu only managed 651 Premier League minutes.

Sommer for 4 million: will it be ok? For the defense, there is the idea Tomi Tom
La Gazzetta dello Sport – Cagliari2 Aug 2023
TOKYO (stop) Decisive hours for Sommer, but this time really: a response from the Bayern Inter are in a hurry, they cannot wait endlessly for the Bavarian club to find their goalkeeper. There would also be a way to force the hand: to pay the clause of 6 million, since-as confirmed by Tuchel – the player wants Inter. Pass that so far Inter, also for economic reasons, has always dribbled. But Inzaghi also lacks the so-called ” arm ” and the new track is the Japanese Tomi Tom Inter would like him on loan, so far the Gunners have shown availability only to the sale outright.

At present, Inter are understood to be interested only in a loan deal, a one-year affair with no explicit buy option.

This doesn’t seem to sit well with Arsenal, according to the Italian report, who’ve demonstrated a preference for an outright sale.

It signals that, provided the right offer comes along, Tomiyasu could be viewed as expendable.

Considering Arsenal’s recent progress, there may be a feeling within the club that they could find a more suitable replacement for Tomiyasu.

While he remains a useful asset, it appears that the Gunners might prefer to sell him now and reallocate the funds towards securing a player they believe to be a better long-term investment.
