Arsenal are expected to confirm an extension of their partnership with Emirates in the coming days, according to a report.

Andrew Allen reports that he’s expecting Arsenal to confirm an extension of the Emirates partnership in the next couple of days.

It’s not clear exactly what this extension would relate to, but Allen points out that the current shirt sponsorship deal ends in 2024 and the stadium naming rights still run until 2028.

Most likely, an imminent extension would be for the deal that’s closer to its expiry – the shirt sponsorship deal.

Lukasz Baczek writes that the increase could be a 25% upgrade on the £40m-a-year Arsenal currently earn for the shirt sponsorship, bringing it in line with Liverpool’s £50m-a-year deal with Standard Chartered.

With Arsenal spending big in the market this summer and outgoings still few and far between, a new commercial partnership would certainly help to keep things going.

The Gunners will also be earning more from their participation in the Champions League this season, and the Kroenkes seem willing to invest when necessary.

There’s no sense that the club are desperate. But it all helps.

Emirates have been sponsoring Arsenal’s shirts since the 2006/07 season, and it doesn’t look like that’s set to change any time soon.
