Arsenal are in an ongoing negotiation with Chelsea regarding the transfer of their striker Folarin Balogun. While Balogun has already agreed on personal terms with Chelsea, the two clubs are yet to reach a consensus on the transfer fee, according to Football Transfers.

  • Arsenal and Chelsea are in ongoing negotiations over Folarin Balogun’s transfer, with a significant difference in valuation.
  • Balogun performed impressively with Reims in Ligue 1 and seeks more regular first-team football.
  • Chelsea’s recent Premier League defeat accentuates their need for an impactful striker like Balogun.

Despite optimism emanating from Chelsea’s camp about a potential agreement, Arsenal remains steadfast in their valuation of the Hale End academy product.

The Gunners are looking to secure a transfer fee close to £50 million for Balogun, a price the Blues have been reluctant to match.

Instead, Chelsea’s counteroffer stands firm at £30 million for the 22-year-old forward, who demonstrated his worth last season in France’s Ligue 1 with Reims, netting 21 goals.

Balogun’s notable performance in the previous season hasn’t just caught the attention of Chelsea.

FootballTransfers also claim that that David Moyes of West Ham United holds the striker in high regard.

Additionally, with Breel Embolo of Monaco sidelined due to a serious injury, the Ligue 1 side poses a significant threat to Chelsea’s aspirations of acquiring the American striker.

Although Monaco are willing to approach Arsenal’s valuation of Balogun, they’ve yet to finalise personal terms.

Interestingly, despite Arsenal’s high valuation of the player, Balogun is currently the third-choice striker at Emirates Stadium.

He’s behind both Gabriel Jesus and Eddie Nketiah in the pecking order.

The Brazilian international, Jesus, is currently injured, but Mikel Arteta seems to have no inclination to test Balogun in his side and he was once again missing from the squad when Arsenal travelled to Selhurst Park.

As the transfer window drama unfolds, Chelsea’s pursuit of the £50 million-rated striker has intensified, especially following their 3-1 Premier League loss to West Ham.

The decision by new Chelsea boss Maurico Pochettino to deploy rookie Mason Burstow during that match, as the team sought to recover from a one-goal deficit, was indicative of the club’s pressing need for more firepower upfront.

With Balogun’s contract at Arsenal running util 2025 and his clear desire for more regular first-team football, this transfer saga is one to watch closely in the coming weeks.
