Aaron Ramsey looks towards coaching

Aaron Ramsey, who once played an integral role in Arsenal‘s midfield, has revealed plans to begin his coaching badges. The Welsh midfielder, who recently made his third debut for boyhood club Cardiff, was inspired by the managerial success of former teammate Mikel Arteta.

Ramsey’s interest in coaching comes after the Football Association of Wales offered him and Gareth Bale places on their coaching courses last summer. While Bale enjoys his retirement, Ramsey sees a pathway into management when he eventually hangs up his boots.

Ramsey’s admiration for Arteta

The 32-year-old has been highly impressed with how Arteta, now at the helm of Arsenal, has adapted to life in management. Arteta’s leadership recently led the Gunners to a Community Shield penalty shootout triumph over Manchester City.

“It’s still early days for me, but I’m definitely going to do my coaching badges now that I’m back home and I’m able to do that on my doorstep,” Ramsey said. “I still feel like I’ve got a lot more years to play yet. That’s what I’m fully focused on.”

He expressed certainty that Arteta would go on to become a manager, and now sees the possibility for himself as well.

“Arsenal are in good hands with Mikel,” Ramsey added.

“I played with him and you could see his intensity and the way that he talked about the game, the way he saw the game, that he was destined to become a manager.

“To be able to learn as an understudy to one of the best managers of all time in Pep Guardiola has given him a lot of insight and knowledge that not many people would have.

“Having said that, he has brought in his own style Arsenal, put his own take on it.

“That mixture is only going to be good for Arsenal and help them to win a few things.”

Ramsey’s return to Cardiff

Aaron Ramsey has returned to Cardiff, where he played his first match in last Sunday’s 2-2 Championship draw with Leeds.

He started again this weekend as Cardiff beat QPR 2-1 away.
