Kieran Tierney’s situation remains one to watch as the transfer window progresses, despite things going quiet in recent weeks.

Fabrizio Romano reports for CaughtOffside that whilst Kieran Tierney’s situation has gone a little quiet, it remains one to watch later in the window.

Arsenal aren’t desperate to sell Tierney, but they’d consider a sale if a good offer arrives, so things could change quickly.

For the time being, Tierney is away on Arsenal’s pre-season tour, playing in matches, so it certainly doesn’t seem as if he’s trying to force a transfer.

Speaking in an interview this week, the left-back suggested it’s not his decision to make.

“It’s not really up to me (my future),” Tierney said. “I’m happy, I’m working hard every day and getting minutes. I’m just trying to do as well as I can.

“No (I have not had conversations with Arteta).

“You can’t play every single game, every single season, every single year. I don’t expect that and I still made a lot of appearances last year.”

Reports recently suggested Tierney isn’t ruling out a return to boyhood club Celtic this summer, but Newcastle are still considered the favourites in light of Celtic’s financial situation.

Celtic would be looking to bring Tierney back on a season-long loan with a substantial loan fee and significant compromises on wages.

But that seems hugely unlikely from an Arsenal point of view, as Tierney surely has more value to the club either in Mikel Arteta’s playing squad or in making a permanent move for decent money.

Sources have continually reported Tierney remains a key target for Newcastle, and he’s set to command a fee of £30m+ with the Premier League side.

Though the defender wasn’t necessarily a starter for Arsenal last season, he was still a key part of the squad, making 36 appearances in all competitions.
