Emile Smith Rowe is set for an almost immediate return to training with Arsenal, after winning the u21 European Championship with England.

Kaya Kaynak reports for Football.London that Emile Smith Rowe will join up with Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal squad for the pre-season tour of the USA this week, having arrived back from Georgia on Sunday.

Smith Rowe featured in every game of the recent u21 European Championship, starting three matches and coming off the bench in the other three.

The 22-year-old scored twice and assisted once as England went on to lift the trophy, adding another winner’s medal to the one he received at the u17 World Cup a few years earlier.

But as successful as Smith Rowe’s exploits on England u21 duty were, it left a question mark over his involvement in pre-season for Arsenal.

Most of the Arsenal squad returned to training last week, with the non-internationals linking up at London Colney on Monday and the internationals joining their first sessions on Saturday.

With Smith Rowe still abroad until the weekend, he is yet to reunite with his teammates, and it wouldn’t have been a surprise if he’d had another week or two off on holiday.

Instead, Football.London report Smith Rowe will have less than a week off before joining up with Arteta’s squad in America.

Smith Rowe missed last week’s friendly against Watford and won’t be involved against FC Nurnberg on Thursday, but it looks like he’ll now be available for the rest of Arsenal’s pre-season calendar:
