A Saudi Arabian club expressed an interest in Nicolas Pepe last week, but they aren’t currently close to his wage demands.

CBS Sports report that Arsenal would be keen to move Nicolas Pepe on this summer, and a mid-table Saudi Arabian club expressed an initial interest in the player last week.

The Gunners are believed to be willing to accept a nominal fee for Pepe, or even to consider a contract termination to get his wages off the books.

But as it stands, there’s a significant difference between the salary Pepe’s suitors would be willing to offer and the player’s expectations.

Pepe spent the 2022/23 campaign out on loan with OGC Nice, but the Ligue 1 side didn’t have an option to buy in his deal, and the player confirmed he was returning to his parent club.

“I will return to Arsenal,” Pepe said earlier this month. “I was loaned without an option to buy so I have to go back to Arsenal.

“I don’t know [about my future] yet. When I get back, I’ll speak with the coach and everyone and see what everyone’s ideas are and then we’ll make a decision.”

With the winger’s ongoing injury problems, he’s yet to join Arsenal on tour.

Pepe missed the final seven games of Nice’s campaign with an injury that he seemingly still hasn’t recovered from.

When he’s fully fit, it will be interesting to see whether or not he then returns to the squad.
