Thomas Partey’s camp have informed suitors in Saudi Arabia that he’s currently not interested in such a move, but initial dialogue has taken place with Juventus.
James Benge reports for CBS Sports that Thomas Partey’s representatives have informed interested clubs in Saudi Arabia that he isn’t currently considering a move to the country, despite three clubs chasing his signature.
Partey would prefer to move to Juventus if he leaves Arsenal, with the Serie A side keen and initial conversations taking place.
But Arsenal would want a significant fee to sell, and it remains to be seen whether Juventus would be willing to make such an offer.
Benge adds that this is only the current situation, and that it’s not impossible Partey changes his mind on a move to Saudi Arabia if the Juventus move doesn’t progress.
Ahead of this week, Charles Watts reported that Partey would hold talks with Arsenal once he returned from his holiday.
Partey travelled back to England last weekend, he’s now back in training. He’ll reportedly hold conversations with Arsenal over their plans for him, with the Gunners understood to be open to sellling him for a suitable offer.
Arsenal are yet to receive any formal bids, despite the reports of outside interest, but Benge claims Al-Nassr were prepared to offer €30m (£25.6m).
Other reports suggested Arsenal would only consider bids in excess of £30m.
Sources in Italy had claimed Partey would prefer the move to Serie A, and that Juventus would be looking to do a deal for a figure in the region of €18-20m (£15.4-£17.1m).
That’s still a pretty significant valuation gap, at best around £13m shy of Arsenal’s asking price.
In terms of potential replacements, Arsenal have now agreed a deal for Declan Rice, and they also have an interest in Romeo Lavia.
