Arsenal’s Gabriel Magalhaes has spent time training with Corinthians over his vacation, but reports categorically rule out any possibility of a transfer.

Arsenal centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes has been on holiday since the end of the club season, missing out on a call-up from Brazil for the latest round of internationals.

The centre-back has spent part of his holidays back in Brazil, and Gazeta Esportiva report that he’s been training at Corinthians’ training centre.

It’s not the first time the Sao Paulo-born defender has been back to his hometown for training, after he made a visit to Corinthians last November.

As well as training, Gabriel also spent time watching Clube Atletico Mineiro playing in the quarter-finals of the Copa do Brasil last month, as well as being one of a number of Arsenal players to use the holidays to get married.

But for any Corinthians or Atletico-MG fans getting excited about a potential transfer, Gazeta Esportiva quickly put a lid on any speculation.

They describe the chances of the signing as “zero”, with the centre-back on a long-term contract and his valuation a long way from Corinthians’ reality.

Even the much richer Paris Saint-Germain already found their attempts to sign Gabriel blocked this summer.

Goal Brasil had reported that PSG were considering the possibility of investing in Gabriel in the summer transfer window, following up on an enquiry they made for the defender last summer.

But the move was always set for failure. Gabriel is excited to play in the Champions League with Arsenal, and he wants to stay at the Emirates Stadium.

The centre-back isn’t even thinking about a summer move, regardless of the clubs interested in him.

With 48 appearances under his belt in 2022/23 and Champions League football to come, the Brazilian has plenty of reasons to feel settled at Arsenal.
