Arsenal are planning to announce the Jurrien Timber deal imminently, hoping to have him involved for the Nurnberg friendly on Thursday.

Dharmesh Sheth of Sky Sports reports that Arsenal are hoping to have Jurrien Timber’s move from Ajax sorted in time for him to be part of the squad playing against FC Nurnberg on Thursday.

Whilst Declan Rice’s move from West Ham is only expected to be formalised in time for the trip to the U.S., it seems there’s a chance Timber could be involved in Germany in midweek.

The Arsenal Informer claim the official announcement of the move is now expected within 24 hours, though they don’t confirm whether or not it will be in time for Timber to feature in the upcoming friendly.

Timber has already seemingly said his goodbyes back in the Netherlands, with his family holding him a farewell party last week.

Arsenal have taken a 30-man squad to Germany for their pre-season training camp, including 11 defenders.

Takehiro Tomiyasu, William Saliba, Auston Trusty, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Kieran Tierney, and Jakub Kiwior are all still waiting on their first minutes of pre-season, with none of that group featuring in last week’s friendly against Watford.

So while there’s certainly no need to rush Timber into action, he’ll want to get out onto the pitch for his new side as soon as he can.

Timber has signed a deal with Arsenal lasting until 2028, joining for a fee of €40m (£34.3m) plus €5m (£4.3m) in bonuses described as “largely realistic”.

The 22-year-old made 47 appearances for Ajax in the 2022/23 campaign, and he’s also a Dutch international, playing 15 times for the national team.
