Arsenal have scheduled a medical for Declan Rice in the expectation that his signing will be formally completed by the weekend.

The Daily Mail report that whilst Arsenal are still yet to completely agree all the details of Declan Rice’s transfer from West Ham United, a medical has already been scheduled for the midfielder in the coming days.

Arsenal have set up the medical amid the expectation that Rice’s signing will be formally completed by the weekend.

For now, talks are ongoing. Negotiations will continue on Monday with a view to reaching a full agreement within 24 hours, and the deal is described as “95%” complete.

Arsenal and West Ham have already agreed a fee in principle, with the Gunners set to pay £100m plus £5m in add-ons for Rice.

But talks have continued over the payment terms of the deal, with Arsenal offering to pay over four years and West Ham pushing for payment within two. A compromise is seemingly within touching distance.

Mikel Arteta is reportedly keen to get Rice fully integrated at Arsenal before the pre-season tour of the United States, with the Gunners playing their first game in the U.S. on July 20th.

David Ornstein recently reported that he expects Arsenal will do what they need to do to get the deal done, having had a fee accepted, and the move “should get wrapped up in due course”.

Manchester City have made it clear they don’t plan to match Arsenal’s bid, meaning the only realistic options are a move to north London or a stay with West Ham.

Rice is currently on holiday, after finally concluding a long season with a couple of games on international duty.

The 24-year-old made 50 appearances for West Ham and 11 appearances for England over the last 12 months.

After a well-earned break, it looks like the 24-year-old will be linking up with new teammates in pre-season.
