Declan Rice will complete his move to Arsenal once the club’s lawyers approve the final wording of their deal with West Ham United, according to a report.

Sky Sports News report that West Ham United are ready to sign the contracts for Declan Rice to complete his transfer to Arsenal, and they’re now just waiting for the Gunners’ lawyers to approve the final wording of the deal.

Once that’s done, both clubs will sign and Rice will be an Arsenal player.

Dharmesh Sheth reports that Rice is now finalising his move, and it’s hoped everything will be sorted in time for him to fly to the United States for Arsenal’s pre-season tour.

Arsenal fly out on Sunday, so that leaves a few days now to get it all over the line.

This is all normal procedure for a contract negotiation, especially for a deal of this size.

Arsenal and West Ham will both want to make sure all the details are exactly as they want them before signing on the dotted line, but that doesn’t mean the deal is in jeopardy.

As a reminder, this will be a club-record deal for Arsenal, with the Gunners agreeing to pay a guaranteed fee of £100m and a potential additional £5m in add-ons. Those aren’t figures you want to mess around with.

After agreeing the fee, it took another week for the two clubs to come to a consensus on the payment structure of the deal.

Arsenal eventually committed to paying the £100m fixed fee in three instalments over 24 months, which was viewed as an acceptable compromise by the Hammers.

There hasn’t been any rush to get the deal finalised so far, as Rice has been on holiday in recent weeks.

The midfielder needed a bit of extra time off, having gone straight from the Premier League season to the Europa Conference League final to the international break without any rest in between.

But the plan now is to get the deal done before Sunday, so Rice can finally spend some time with his new teammates on tour.
