There’s mixed news on the injury front for Arsenal, with a few players returning to training this week but others still absent.

After Arsenal’s game in FC Nurnberg last week, the Gunners had eight players on their injury list: Marquinhos, Rob Holding, Gabriel Martinelli, Takehiro Tomiyasu, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Mohamed Elneny, Martin Odegaard, and Leandro Trossard.

Reiss Nelson then joined that group after picking up a toe injury, with Chris Wheatley reporting for Gooner News that the winger has been ruled out for two weeks after requiring stitches.

But there’s been some good news since then, following Arsenal’s open training session on Monday.

Football.London report that Marquinhos and Rob Holding are both back in training after missing Thursday’s game on a precautionary basis, so it seems as though they’re available for match action again.

Similarly, Leandro Trossard and Martin Odegaard were both involved in full training and an 11-vs-11 match on Monday after their injury scares on Thursday.

Gabriel Martinelli was on the warm-up bikes with some of the other injured stars, but there’s a suggestion that there’s some hope for a comeback for him on Wednesday.

The same can’t be said for Takehiro Tomiyasu and Oleksandr Zinchenko, as it’s expected Wednesday’s game will come too soon for them.

Mohamed Elneny is also presumably set to be absent, as previous reports suggested he was the furthest away from full match fitness going into pre-season.

So at the very least, Tomiyasu, Zinchenko, Elneny, and Nelson are all set to miss Wednesday’s game through injury.

As for the new signings, Declan Rice is still in the very early stages of his pre-season preparations, but Jurrien Timber is a bit further along, playing a full part in training.
