Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares is tipped to exit the club this summer. Italian media outlet TuttoMercatoWeb reports that the Gunners have set a €25m price tag for the defender.

Despite interest from West Ham United and Galatasaray, Tavares is said to be waiting for offers from more prominent clubs.

  • Nuno Tavares is reportedly ready for a departure from Arsenal, with the club requesting ‘at least €25m’ for his transfer.
  • West Ham United and Galatasaray have shown interest in the defender; however, Tavares seems to be waiting for more prestigious clubs.
  • After a loan spell at Olympique Marseille and a struggle to adapt to Arsenal’s playing style, Tavares seeks a bigger challenge.

Nuno Tavares, the 23-year-old left-back, is poised for a summer departure from Arsenal, as per TuttoMercatoWeb.

While Arsenal are unwilling to let him go for a minimal fee, two clubs – Galatasaray and West Ham United – have reportedly shown interest.

However, it seems that the defender, who was signed on an €8m deal from Benfica in 2021, might be aiming for a more prominent stage.

Hurdles for interested clubs

Despite the interest from West Ham and Galatasaray, Tavares appears to be waiting for “more important” clubs.

Arsenal have reportedly set a price tag of ‘at least €25m’ for Tavares’ departure. These two factors may pose substantial hurdles for the two interested clubs.

Tavares’ stint at Arsenal has seen him fall out of favour after the signing of Oleksandr Zinchenko, and he spent the previous season on loan at Olympique Marseille.

Regardless of the possibility of Kieran Tierney leaving the club, it’s unlikely that Tavares will stick around.

While West Ham offer him a chance to stay in London, Tavares is eyeing bigger ambitions.

He struggled to adaptat to Arsenal’s playing style in his debut season and was often caught out of position.

This has led to Mikel Arteta preferring other options, such as Oleksandr Zinchenko and Kieran Tierney.

David Moyes’ West Ham, despite winning the UEFA Conference League, finished 14th in the Premier League, which may not align with Tavares’ aspirations.

The defender also has been linked with a potential move to Atalanta, who showed interest in him before his loan move to Marseille.

Ultimately, Tavares’ potential departure would represent good business for Arsenal, who bought the Portuguese international for just €8m in 2021.

If they can get a club to pay up, that is.
