Australian international Steph Catley has confirmed her future at Arsenal by signing a new contract.

The left-back, known for her impressive performances, expressed her joy at extending her stay at a club that feels like “home”.

Successful tenure at Arsenal

Steph Catley, since her debut as a substitute in the UEFA Women’s Champions League quarter-final against Paris Saint-Germain in August 2020, has consistently proven her worth to Arsenal since.

The Australian international has made an impressive 74 appearances, scoring three goals for the Gunners.

Key role in the 2022/23 campaign

Over the 2022/23 season, Catley has excelled in her customary position on the left side of defence, as well as stepping into central defence when required.

She played a crucial role in Arsenal’s 5-1 victory against Champions League holders Lyon in October 2022, reflecting her skill and adaptability on the field.

Head Coach Jonas Eidevall and Head of Women’s Football Clare Wheatley, commended Catley’s performance and professionalism.

“I’m delighted Steph has signed a new contract with us,” Eidevall said. “Steph is one of the best defenders in the game and brings so much to this group both on and off the pitch.

“She’s a model professional and has delivered time and again when called upon throughout my time here, so we’re all pleased to say Steph will continue to be a part of Arsenal for years to come.”

Wheatley added, “It’s great news that Steph has signed a new deal here at Arsenal. Steph is one of the top players in the world in her position and has been such a consistent performer in the time she has been here.

“She is a key part of this team and we’re delighted to say she will continue to wear the Arsenal colours moving forward.”
