As Arsenal Women’s defender Anna Patten’s contract nears its end, a permanent shift to Aston Villa Women appears increasingly probable, marking a significant turning point in her career.

With Anna Patten’s Arsenal contract set to expire this summer, the 24-year-old defender is expected to move permanently to Aston Villa Women.

Having spent the latter part of her contract on loan at Aston Villa, Patten’s impressive performances seem to have earned her a permanent spot. The impending move will bring to a close Arsenal’s current loanee commitments.

Before her spell with Aston Villa, Patten represented the Florida State Seminoles and the South Carolina Gamecocks in the United States, returning to Arsenal in 2021.

Her potential exit will follow the recent departures of Mana Iwabuchi and Fran Stenson.

But, as one door closes, another opens.

Arsenal Women have managed to extend several contracts, securing stability in their line-up. The main question on everyone’s lips now, however, is who might be donning the Arsenal colours next season.

Alessia Russo seems to be close to an Arsenal move after she announced she would be leaving Manchester United at the end of her contract this summer.
