Martin Zubimendi, a reported target for Arsenal, has dismissed the prospect of moving to Barcelona, saying he’d rather remain at Real Sociedad.

This decision may have implications for Arsenal as they eye up summer signings and gear up for the Champions League.

Arsenal’s target, Martin Zubimendi, has made a bold move by publicly rejecting a transfer to Barcelona this summer window.

Despite attracting attention from Europe’s elite clubs, including Arsenal, the Real Sociedad midfielder seems like he’s ready to stay put.

Zubimendi, a consistent figure in the Sociedad team that secured a Champions League spot by finishing fourth in La Liga, played a crucial role in their success.

This was the highest Sociedad has finished in a decade, and only the second time they’ve made it to the top four since their promotion.

The impact on Arsenal’s plans

With Zubimendi’s commitment to Sociedad, Arsenal might have to revise their strategies.

Arsenal, known to be eyeing the 24-year-old midfielder as a part of their plan to improve their squad, might now have to look elsewhere.

Although Declan Rice remains a priority for the Gunners, there are other players in consideration too.

With Granit Xhaka’s possible exit and the impending Champions League campaign, Arsenal need more reinforcements.

Other potential targets include Moises Caicedo, Mason Mount, and Ilkay Gundogan.

Zubimendi’s response to transfer rumours

Zubimendi hasn’t kept quiet about the transfer rumours, especially those linking him with Barcelona.

He publicly rejected these speculations, expressing more interest in inheriting Asier Illarramendi’s No.4 at Sociedad than replacing Sergio Busquets at Camp Nou. Though this doesn’t eliminate the possibility of a move to Arsenal, it certainly raises a lot of doubts.
