The delays have allowed Arsenal to make a strong move for the coveted England international, with Rice expected to move across London.

  • Erik ten Hag is reportedly frustrated with Manchester United’s takeover saga hampering his plans to sign Declan Rice
  • Arsenal are in pole position for the England ace, with an initial bid of £90million plus add-ons being increased.
  • Manchester City are also keen to hijack the deal, escalating the competition for Rice’s signature.

Arsenal are taking full advantage of the disarray at Manchester United to push ahead with their bid for Declan Rice.

The Gunners’ initial bid of £90 million plus add-ons for Rice was rejected, but they are expected to increase their offer.

This comes as Manchester City also prepare to join the fray.

Manchester United’s ongoing takeover drama has reportedly given Arsenal the upper hand despite the fact it has been reported that Arsenal have been in the lead for Rice’s signature for some time now.

Erik ten Hag’s spending has been restricted while the Glazers decide whether to sell or stay put. This, combined with the inability to offload expensive dead wood from the squad, has created an opening for Arsenal.

Rice the perfect fit for the Gunners

Rice, at 24, has already demonstrated his potential and leadership qualities. Bringing him to Arsenal could be a significant boost to the club’s midfield, adding a combination of defensive solidity and ball-playing ability that could complement the current squad.

Clock ticking on United’s hopes

The delay in the takeover could last for at least another two weeks as Premier League chiefs complete the Owners’ and Directors’ Test. This delay may further strengthen Arsenal’s position in securing Rice’s signature, much to the reported dismay of ten Hag.

Despite the ongoing saga at Manchester United, the race for Rice’s signature is far from over.

Manchester City have shown interest, suggesting that a fierce bidding war could be on the horizon.

However, with Arsenal’s firm resolve and United’s ongoing issues, the Gunners are presently leading the race.
