- Lucas Torreira’s successful stint with Galatasaray has attracted interest from Europe’s top clubs, including Serie A’s Lazio.
- Galatasaray are demanding between €18m and €20m for Torreira, who they initially signed for just €6m from Arsenal last summer.
- The 27-year-old Uruguayan midfielder’s current market value is estimated to be €15m.
After an impressive season under Galatasaray’s management, Lucas Torreira has attracted attention from major European clubs.
However, Galatasaray’s asking price for the Uruguayan player is becoming a topic of debate.
A significant season at Galatasaray
Lucas Torreira, who made quite an impression last season under Okan Buruk’s guidance, has become a favourite target for European powerhouses.
His successful run in Galatasaray saw him play 34 matches, producing one assist.
Serie A’s Lazio have shown the most interest in the midfielder, who also has suitors from England and Germany.
AC Milan, Newcastle United, and Wolfsburg have also shown interest in the Uruguayan.
A price tag causing controversy
Galatasaray, having signed Torreira from Arsenal for €6m, are now demanding a hefty sum of €18-20m for his transfer.
This has sparked conversations about the increase in the player’s value, given that his current market value is estimated to be €15m and they only paid €6m for him.
Arsenal paid €28.65m to sign Torreira from Sampdoria in 2018.
Lazio’s challenges
Under the management of Maurizio Sarri, Lazio are reportedly keen to add Torreira to their squad.
However, the transfer fee Galatasaray are asking for is posing a major hurdle.
As a result, Lazio are considering other alternatives like Jerdy Schouten from Bologna.
Torreira’s contract with Galatasaray is due to expire in June 2026.
