Jonas Eidevall, the successful head coach of Arsenal’s women’s team, has recently confirmed interest shown in him by Allsvenskan clubs.

Eidevall, who left FC Rosengård for Arsenal in the Women’s Super League two years ago, has led the team to a league cup win, a Champions League semi-final, and a third-place finish in the league this season.

Eidevall’s contract with Arsenal runs until the summer of 2024, but the coach expressed the need to discuss his future with the club.

In the podcast Lundh on Fotbollskanalen, Eidevall explains, “I think it is natural that we need to sit down this summer and discuss what our future direction should be.”

Eidevall admitted receiving offers to return to men’s football, particularly in Sweden.

When asked if the offers were for a head coach position, Eidevall didn’t directly answer the question, instead stating that the timing was not right. However, he did not rule out a potential shift in the future.

“It has not been the right timing then,” Eidevall said. “But at the same time, I think that there are pieces that I do today at Arsenal that might be completely impossible to do if you compare it to the Superettan level.

“Then I’m talking about managing a leadership and medical staff of 20 people, that’s obviously a completely different responsibility you have as a leader in terms of how you delegate and use multidisciplinary skills.

“You have a squad of players with over 10 different nationalities and 10 different national teams to keep in touch with,” he added. “You play European games and need to manage travel logistics and preparations and understand different cultures that you are coming to.”

Eidevall’s previous coaching experience on the men’s side includes training in Ettan Södra, with Lunds BK.
