Former Arsenal full-back Hector Bellerin is heading back to Spain, re-joining Real Betis.

After a six-month spell at Sporting CP, Bellerin, who first wore the colours of the club his father supports during his loan from Arsenal in the 2021/22 season, has finalised a long-term deal with Betis.

Less than six months after leaving Barcelona to sign for Sporting CP, Hector Bellerin is set to return to Spain, albeit with another of his former clubs.

Bellerin was on loan at Real Betis from Arsenal during the 2021/22 season, where he made 23 appearances in LaLiga.

The 28-year-old right-back is now set to return to Los Verdiblancos this summer, having finalised an agreement to re-join as a free agent, as per MD.

Bellerin’s journey to this point is quite intriguing. As a teenager, he left his home at Barcelona to join Arsenal in 2011, where he developed into a fan-favourite.

His attacking style, combined with a genuine affection for the club, endeared him to the fans.

Bellerin’s short stint at Sporting CP

Signed by Sporting in January for just €1m, Bellerin will leave in the next few weeks, after only penning a deal until the end of the 2022/23 season.

He played 13 games for the Portuguese giants, with only six of those as a starter.

His limited game time may have played a role in his decision to return to a club where he has previously thrived.

Having only played seven matches for Barcelona in the first half of the 2022/23 season, Bellerin will hope that he can nail down a starting berth when he join Real Betis next month.

The prospect of returning to a familiar environment and working under a management that appreciates his skills could provide the catalyst for Bellerin to return to his best form.

After his injury-plagued last few seasons at Arsenal, fans will be eager to see him back on the field, performing at his highest level and enjoying his football once again.
