Kai Havertz is very close to joining Arsenal, with the player keen and Bayern Munich informed that negotiations with the Gunners are too advanced.
Florian Plettenberg of Sky Sports in Germany reports that Kai Havertz is now very close to joining Arsenal, with everything depending on the final offer from the Gunners.
The player is reportedly keen to make the move, with personal terms almost fully agreed.
Bayern Munich had made enquiries in the last few days about a potential deal, but they were informed that negotiations with Arsenal are too advanced, so they aren’t currently planning an offer or hijack.
Plettenberg adds that the transfer fee package is expected to be around €80m (£68m) including add-ons.
Jacob Steinberg of The Guardian had reported on Saturday that Arsenal were confident of sealing the signing of Havertz and planning to increase their offer, following Chelsea’s rejection of their initial bid.
According to Steinberg, Chelsea are holding out for £70m, but they need to sell, and £60m should be enough.
As with Plettenberg, Steinberg reports that whilst Bayern Munich are also interested in Havertz, Arsenal are the favourites for a deal.
Havertz has reportedly informed Chelsea of his desire to leave this summer, with Arsenal ready to match his current wages of around £220,000 a week.
Rumours of Arsenal interest in Havertz came to the fore on Wednesday, as David Ornstein reported that Arsenal had made an opening proposal for the German international.
Ornstein confirmed that Arsenal were stepping up their pursuit following contact with Chelsea and Havertz himself, though the potential transfer was still in the early stages.
The Evening Standard’s Nizaar Kinsella claims Chelsea are prepared to do business, with Arsenal hoping that the financial difficulties of their London rivals will bring the price down.
Chelsea need to sell players before June 30th if they want to include the sales in their books for the current financial year.
