Paris Saint-Germain are considering a move for Gabriel Magalhaes, but the defender wants to stay at Arsenal this summer.

Goal Brasil report that Paris Saint-Germain are considering the possibility of investing in Gabriel Magalhaes of Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

PSG are yet to formalise a proposal, but they’re considering following up on an enquiry they made for the defender last summer, with sporting director Luis Campos particularly keen.

But the move appears to be set for failure. Gabriel is excited to play in the Champions League with Arsenal, and he wants to stay at the Emirates Stadium.

The centre-back isn’t even thinking about a summer move, regardless of the club interested in him.

The story follows a familiar pattern, after the reports last week of PSG’s interest in Martin Odegaard.

From the off, those reports came with the caveat that Odegaard didn’t actually want to leave Arsenal, and they were swiftly followed by further reports that Arsenal would refuse to sell.

There had also been claims of interest in Gabriel from Juventus, but Fabrizio Romano reported that the defender was ‘untouchable’ last summer, and that’s the case to an even greater extent now.

“It’s always nice to get that recognition but I’m really focused on Arsenal,” Gabriel said last August.

“I am very happy here. I’ve got a good relationship with my teammates and I am fully committed to the project.

“I am convinced that, with the project we have, we can achieve a lot.”

Like Odegaard, Gabriel is under contract with the Gunners for the long term, with a deal lasting until 2027. And like Odegaard, Gabriel is a guaranteed starter and one of the squad’s leaders in terms of minutes last season.

With 48 appearances under his belt in 2022/23 and Champions League football to come, the Brazilian has plenty of reasons to feel settled at Arsenal.
