  • Fran Stenson, the Arsenal Women goalkeeper, has left the club following the end of her contract.
  • Despite her significant potential, Stenson only had one first-team appearance with Arsenal, a triumph over the London City Lionesses in the Conti Cup in 2020.
  • Alongside Stenson’s departure, Mana Iwabuchi, another prominent figure at the club, is also expected to leave this summer along with others.

Fran Stenson has decided to part ways with the club after her contract ran its course.

Having joined the North London club from Manchester City in the summer of 2018, Stenson was lauded as a talented prospect.

In her early days, prior to signing with Manchester City, Stenson showcased her talents playing first-team football at Birmingham City.

Her journey at Arsenal, however, involved numerous loan periods at Blackburn Rovers, Brighton, Birmingham City again, and recently Sheffield United.

Although she possessed significant promise, the 22-year-old only managed to make one appearance for Arsenal’s first team. It was a notable 4-0 victory over the London City Lionesses in the Conti Cup in November 2020.

Stenson is now free to explore new opportunities with other clubs.

Stenson’s departure may just be the beginning of a summer exodus at Arsenal Women. Mana Iwabuchi is also expected to move on after the summer when her contract expires.

Iwabuchi’s absence from Japan’s World Cup squad further fuels these speculations.

Arsenal have already confirmed that Rafaelle will depart at the end of her contract while the following players are also out of contract this summer, although Vivianne Miedema is not expected to be going anywhere:
