Arsenal are looking into the possibility of bidding for Moises Caicedo as well as signing Declan Rice, according to reports.
Arsenal look to be making progress on a potential deal for Declan Rice of West Ham United, with reports suggesting the Gunners are close to agreeing on a fee for the midfielder.
The Guardian claim the two clubs are close to an agreement on a deal worth over £100m, including add-ons. Yet Arsenal might have another pricey midfielder in their sights this summer.
According to the same source, Arsenal are also considering bidding for Moises Caicedo, who is also wanted by Chelsea.
The Telegraph confirm that Arsenal remain interested in Caicedo after their January bids were knocked back, and the club are exploring the possibility of bidding for him as well as signing Rice.
Caicedo is expected to cost more than £70m, and Chelsea are also pushing for a deal, so there are certainly no guarantees. But the suggestion is that it’s not one or the other.
Charlie Haffenden and Chris Wheatley of LondonWorld recently reported that Arsenal are preparing to make a renewed offer for Caicedo, similar to the bid Brighton turned down in January.
Whilst Brighton refused to sell in the winter window, they’re now open to negotiations, having agreed with the midfielder that they’ll let him go for a substantial summer offer.
Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano reported in recent days that Caicedo hasn’t yet agreed terms with any club, and he’s currently considering his options.
However, he expects to leave Brighton this summer, having agreed with manager Roberto De Zerbi that he could go for a bid of £70-80m.
Caicedo made 43 appearances for Brighton this season, helping them to qualify for European competition for the first time and to reach the FA Cup semi-final.
The midfielder is also an Ecuador international, having made his debut as an 18-year-old. He’s already made 30 appearances for his country, and he’s in their squad for the upcoming international break.
