Arsenal trio Folarin Balogun, Matt Turner, and Auston Trusty were on the winning side in the Nations League final against Canada, with a Balogun goal and a clean sheet.

Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun and Matt Turner started in the CONCACAF Nations League final against Canada on Sunday night, with Balogun making just his second appearance for the senior U.S. Men’s National Team.

Just over half an hour into the final, Balogun had his first goal for his country.

Racing in behind the defence, Balogun fought to get on the end of a through ball from Giovanni Reyna, before firing a finish past the Canadian goalkeeper to make it 2-0 on the night.

After that, it was just about protecting the advantage, and with the help of goalkeeper Turner and a late substitute appearance for centre-back Auston Trusty, the USMNT kept a clean sheet to secure the win and the trophy.

Balogun will be pleased to have scored his first goal for the USMNT, particularly in such an important game.

In addition, he now has his first piece of silverware in the senior game, having not yet broken into the Arsenal setup when the Gunners won the FA Cup in 2020.

At the other end of the pitch, it was yet another clean sheet for Turner, his 19th in 28 games for the national team.

Turner won the ‘Best Goalkeeper’ award for the 2023 CONCACAF Nations League, to add to the trophy itself.

Though Trusty only made a late appearance, he also continues to be involved with the team following his debut in March.

In all, things are going all for Arsenal’s U.S. trio, and there should be more to come over the next few years.
