The future of Norwegian midfield maestro, Frida Maanum, at Arsenal has been sealed. The club announced today that the player has extended her contract, ensuring her place in the team.

This comes as no surprise, as Maanum has been a crucial figure in the squad since her arrival from Linkopings FC in Sweden in July 2021.

In her two-season tenure, Maanum has made 78 appearances for Arsenal, finding the back of the net 20 times.

The 23-year-old has established herself as a standout player, with her last campaign particularly noteworthy. Maanum started 32 of the 38 matches and played an integral part in the team’s success, providing 16 goals and nine assists.

Her remarkable performance has not gone unnoticed.

Maanum was nominated for the PFA and Barclays WSL Player of the Season awards.

Moreover, she was chosen by the Arsenal Women Supporters’ Club as the outstanding performer for the campaign, and the fans voted her as the Arsenal Player of the Month in October and January.

Internationally, Maanum represented Norway at the UEFA European Championships in 2017 and 2022 and the FIFA World Cup in 2019.

Expressing her excitement about the extension, Maanum said, “It feels great – I love Arsenal and I’m looking forward to continuing my time here. This is a place where I can develop and learn from the players around me and take steps both on and off the pitch.

“We’ve had some really special moments this season and the connection with our supporters has been fantastic, so I can’t wait to see what we can achieve together.”
