On Tuesday morning, Sky Sports’ Dharmesh Sheth broke the news that Arsenal were expected to make a formal bid worth £90m for West Ham United captain Declan Rice.

John Cross of the Mirror then reported that the offer would be submitted today, with Arsenal believing they’re in pole position to make the signing.

A number of other sources then weighed in to confirm that the bid is imminent, with James Benge, Fabrizio Romano, and Sami Mokbel all reporting that it will be submitted within hours.

Sam Dean also reported for The Telegraph that the offer is expected to be imminent.

Mokbel wrote for the Daily Mail that Arsenal’s new offer is worth a “minimum” of £90m, but add-ons could push the fee closer to £100m.

Then, David Ornstein confirmed that the bid had been submitted, writing, “It is anticipated the proposal of £75m and £15m in add-ons will be turned down by their Premier League rivals, but Arsenal are getting closer to a fee that West Ham are aiming to achieve if their captain is to depart.”

Following his exploits on international duty, Rice is heading off on holiday this week, but he expects to be an Arsenal player by the end of the month.

Personal terms are already in place, and they’ll be formally agreed very quickly once West Ham and Arsenal agree on a fee.

The Hammers had been hoping to trigger a bidding war, aiming to bring in over £100m for Rice. But the player wants to join Arsenal, and that desire is seemingly keeping other interested clubs at bay.

The Telegraph claim West Ham are in no rush to sell, with the belief that a club like Manchester City could easily afford the £100m fee they’re asking for. So there are no guarantees on how they’ll respond to Arsenal’s latest offer.

The West Ham Way report that the Arsenal side are confident a deal will be done after their new bid, but it’s not clear what West Ham’s intentions are on their end.

With the international break almost over, it seems negotiations are now set to speed up one way or another.
