Arsenal have made an improved £60m offer for Kai Havertz, with an expectation that the two clubs will agree a deal this week.
Sami Mokbel reports for the Daily Mail that Arsenal have made a new verbal offer of £60m to sign Kai Havertz from Chelsea. The bid is comprised of a £55m guaranteed payment, with an additional £5m in add-ons.
Talks accelerated over the weekend, and Arsenal are reportedly looking to wrap up a deal quickly, already having an agreement in place over personal terms.
It’s up to Chelsea now whether to accept the new offer, with no concrete reports on their response.
The Telegraph confirm the deal is progressing quickly, with Chelsea willing to sell for the right price.
Fabrizio Romano suggests £60m may not be quite enough, writing that a deal could be done around the £65m mark.
Romano adds that the expectation around the deal is to get an agreement in place this week, following the international break.
The journalist adds that a five-year deal is agreed between Arsenal and Havertz.
James Olley writes for ESPN that Chelsea are under pressure to sell to Arsenal, as Havertz has informed the club he has no intention to sign a new contract.
Olley adds that Arsenal see Havertz as capable of playing in the front three, as well as in the number 10 or number 8 roles, making him a versatile addition to the squad.
Arsenal already saw one bid for Havertz turned down, reportedly in the region of £55m. With Chelsea valuing the player at £75m, it certainly wouldn’t be surprising to see the two clubs reach a compromise in the middle at £65m.
But with Havertz pushing for the move, Arsenal will hope they can convince Chelsea to accept their latest £60m offer.
