Arsenal’s quest for an attacking midfielder might come to a halt with the resurfacing of their interest in Dominik Szoboszlai. This rumour comes two years after a prospective move to the Gunners was passed over in favour of Germany.

In January of 2021, Dominik Szoboszlai, a name well known to the Gunners, made the move to the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig.

Now, 18 months into his time in Germany, the Hungarian international has hinted at the possibility of change.

In an interview, Szoboszlai acknowledged the idea of taking on new challenges, sparking transfer rumours once again.

The Arsenal-linked star did not deny his interest in moving to another club, despite having a good time in Leipzig.

“If there is interest, I will consider it, not because I don’t have a good time in Leipzig, but because I have always been interested in challenges,” he said. “On one side of the scale is a good Leipzig, with a coach who trusts me and teammates who accept me and also believe in me.

“No footballer can wish for more than that. This is quite an extra situation.

“At the same time, on the other side, there is the question, if I can now take a step towards Europe’s top five or six clubs, should I say no to the challenge? I’ve never been that type!

Arsenal’s chance

Meanwhile, Arsenal, after their superb season, might be in the perfect position to accommodate Szoboszlai.

The Gunners, who managed to challenge the seemingly invincible 115 charges Manchester City, and are looking forward to a return to the Champions League, can undeniably argue they belong among the top clubs of 2023.

Their past interest in Szoboszlai and the current transfer rumours suggest a keenness that might just lead to the Hungarian international’s transfer dream coming true.

The attacking midfielder has impressed throughout the season, with nine goals and thirteen assists under his belt. This kind of contribution in Arsenal’s midfield could potentially provide manager Mikel Arteta with further options and bring an additional dynamism to the Gunners’ attack.

While the price tag for Szoboszlai is expected to be considerably higher than the £20 million paid by Leipzig in 2021, Arsenal might consider it an investment worth making for the fulfilment of a two-year plan and the actualisation of a transfer dream.

In conclusion, the stars seem to be aligning for Arsenal and Dominik Szoboszlai. The Hungarian international’s openness to a move and the Gunners’ interest in bolstering their midfield might just lead to the completion of a long-awaited plan.

Arsenal fans around the globe will be watching closely to see if their club can bring in this much-anticipated transfer target.
