Arsenal are pushing to sign Raphinha, who is considering leaving Barcelona this summer, according to one report from Spain.

  • Raphinha is considering leaving Barcelona this summer due to concerns about reduced playing time, especially if Lionel Messi returns.
  • Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle United have all reportedly made offers for the winger, with Arsenal’s Edu Gaspar making constant calls to Raphinha’s agent.
  • Barcelona are seeking €70-80m (£62-71m) for the transfer, and Raphinha has not yet made a decision on his future.

Joaquim Piera reports for Spanish outlet Sport that Raphinha is considering leaving Barcelona this summer, purely for sporting reasons.

Barcelona aren’t putting any pressure on the winger to leave for financial reasons, despite their recent difficulties, but the player worries he’ll have fewer minutes next season – particularly if Lionel Messi returns.

Raphinha is concerned that a reduction in his minutes for Barcelona would also affect his participation with the Brazilian national team.

Though he hasn’t yet made a decision, Sport claim Raphinha has three options if he decides to leave Barcelona and return to the Premier League, with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Newcastle United all reportedly making offers.

The Premier League trio are offering better wages than Barcelona, with offers on the table for months now.

Arsenal in particular have been insisting on the move for a while, with Edu Gaspar reportedly making constant calls to the player’s agent.

But Barcelona want €70-80m (£62-71m) for the transfer, so it wouldn’t come cheap. And again, Raphinha is yet to make a decision.

Sport aren’t necessarily the most reliable Spanish outlet, so take this report with a grain of salt.

The reliable Arsenal journalists seem to be suggesting that Arsenal’s primary forward target is Moussa Diaby, with the free transfer of Wilfried Zaha as an alternative.

But Arsenal have been prone to some surprising moves in recent windows, so it’s worth keeping an open mind for now.

Raphinha has made 45 appearances for Barcelona this season, scoring 10 goals and assisting a further 11.
