The Daily Mail’s Sami Mokbel reports that Reiss Nelson has rejected Arsenal’s first contract extension offer, and there’s a growing expectation that he’ll leave the club at the expiry of his contract at the end of the season.

Arsenal could still make Nelson an improved offer before his deal expires, but there’s reportedly a feeling that regular football somewhere else might be better for his career.

Reports in recent days have suggested that Brighton intend to make a formal offer to Nelson at the end of the current campaign, hoping to land him on a free transfer.

A number of Premier League clubs are reportedly interested in Nelson, but it seems Brighton are the most serious about a move should he decide to leave Arsenal.

Brighton got a first-hand look at what Nelson can do in the League Cup clash between the two sides earlier this season. The winger provided an assist for Eddie Nketiah and was one of Arsenal’s best players in defeat.

Nelson has had other impressive cameos, including his two goals and an assist against Nottingham Forest, his dramatic goal and assist against Bournemouth, and recent positive substitute appearances against Manchester City and Chelsea.

But after just 526 minutes for the season so far, it’s understandable that Nelson is considering his options.
