James Maddison is another midfielder on Arsenal’s radar this summer, but Emile Smith Rowe may leave the club, according to a report.

The Mirror report that Arsenal are expecting a major summer of incomings and outgoings in the upcoming window, and James Maddison is on their shortlist of potential targets.

Arsenal have been linked with plenty of midfielders already this summer, with Declan Rice seemingly the priority.

As well as Rice, there have been fairly substantial links to Moises Caicedo, Mason Mount, and Mohammed Kudus, as well as recent suggestions that Martin Zubimendi and Ruben Neves could be alternative options.

But it seems Maddison is yet another name to add to that list, with Leicester City facing relegation from the Premier League.

With a game to go, Leicester are in the relegation zone and two points behind Everton – the only side outside the relegation zone they can still catch.

Everton play Bournemouth at home on the Premier League’s final day, and if they win, Leicester go down.

Even if Everton drop points, Leicester still have to win themselves, and they face West Ham at home.

The one positive for Leicester is that if they do win and Everton draw, they have the goal difference advantage in that scenario.

Leicester also have a far superior goal difference to Leeds United, so a Leeds win over Spurs is effectively irrelevant to Leicester.

So not all hope is lost just yet, but Leicester are very likely to go down on Sunday. If that happens, Maddison is sure to push for a transfer.

The Mirror claim that in terms of outgoings, Emile Smith Rowe may be sacrificed this summer to make room for new signings.

Smith Rowe has hardly featured for Mikel Arteta’s side this season, playing just 180 minutes in all competitions at senior level.

A large part of that was due to his surgery on a damaged tendon in September, ruling him out until the turn of the year. Yet even since returning to fitness, Smith Rowe has struggled to play.

The Evening Standard previously reported that Arsenal are set to hold talks with the midfielder at the end of the season.
