Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit views Neymar as a potential fit for the club, amid the transfer rumours surrounding the player’s departure from Paris Saint-Germain.
- Emmanuel Petit recommends Neymar’s move to Arsenal, citing the Brazilian’s maturity and technical skills.
- Neymar, currently dealing with negative sentiment at Paris Saint-Germain, may find an escape in the English Premier League despite recent links to Manchester United.
- Vinicius Junior should stay at Real Madrid, despite his experience with racism, according to Petit’s opinion.
There’s a flurry of speculation surrounding Neymar’s future as his tenure at Paris Saint-Germain appears increasingly shaky. Among the voices discussing his potential next steps is Emmanuel Petit, former Arsenal midfielder, who suggests that the Brazilian magician may find a harmonious rhythm at Arsenal.
This notion isn’t entirely unfounded. Neymar, who recently celebrated his 31st birthday, has been grappling with a difficult period at PSG, with dissatisfied supporters and recurring injuries tainting his season.
As such, the concept of the striker seeking fresh pastures isn’t far-fetched. There have been murmurings of potential interest from Manchester United, yet, Petit holds a torch for the idea of Neymar finding a home at the Emirates.
According to Petit, Neymar would not only suit Arsenal, but he believes Neymar himself would love the transition.
Petit appreciates Neymar’s maturity and admires his ability to play with younger players, deeming him an excellent addition to Mikel Arteta’s squad. He argues that Neymar could find joy in the technical style of football that Arsenal plays, a style that Neymar is known to excel in.
“I think Neymar will suit any big club,” Petit said. “If he comes to Arsenal, I would love it and I think he will too.
“I think he will enjoy the technical football and the style of Arsenal. He would love to play with younger players as he is quite mature himself.
“He will also have revenge on his mind with everything that he has been going through at PSG, and the tears he shed at the World Cup.
“I think he will be happy to move to Arsenal if that is the case. He can play on the left and the right, and because of his ankle injuries he can be a player in rotation.”
Earlier this month, Gilberto Silva also advised Neymar to sign for Arsenal rather than considering a move to Newcastle.
“The last few weeks at PSG have been very strange for Neymar,” Gilberto said. “Seeing people go to his house; I don’t agree with this, fans are not allowed to go to a player’s house to protest.
“I would love to see him at Arsenal instead of Newcastle because I love the boy as a player, but he also has a lot to contribute to football.”
