Sam Allardyce has taken over the managerial post at Leeds United, with his first game in charge set to be against Manchester City.

With four games remaining in their Premier League campaign and their chances of survival looking increasingly bleak, Leeds United have made the decision to part ways with Javi Gracia and appoint Sam Allardyce for those final fixtures.

Leeds have confirmed that Allardyce will take charge for the four remaining games, assisted by former MK Dons, Charlton Athletic, and Oxford United manager Karl Robinson.

Allardyce’s time in charge will start with Leeds’ trip away to Manchester City on Saturday, a game Arsenal fans will be keeping a close eye on.

This week’s games are arguably City’s easiest remaining fixtures, both at home against bottom-half teams.

As a result, any slip-up will give Arsenal fans hope that perhaps later matches – like the away trips to Brighton and Brentford – could give Mikel Arteta’s side a way back into the title race.

City also still have to play Chelsea, though that doesn’t look like a particularly difficult game right now.

You wouldn’t imagine too many Arsenal fans are getting their hopes up right now. But if Allardyce’s Leeds pulled off a shock “new manager bounce” result at the weekend, that might give them a reason to believe.
