As the Premier League season approaches its finale, Arsenal’s hopes of staying in the title race are alive, largely thanks to a solid 2-0 victory over Newcastle United at St. James’ Park.

After the game, Arsenal’s midfield maestro Jorginho shared his thoughts on the tense battle for the trophy and even joked about how divine intervention might help the Gunners in their pursuit.

In an interview with ESPN Brasil, Jorginho opened up about the challenge Arsenal faced against a Newcastle side also fighting for their objectives.

The Brazilian highlighted the intensity of the match and the electrifying atmosphere at the stadium, which made the clash all the more exciting for those watching.

“It’s clear why,” Jorginho said. “Two teams fighting for important goals, stadium with a very warm atmosphere. It’s wonderful. Everything was beautiful.

“We knew it would be a very physical match and that we would have to fight hard to get the three points. I think those who watched it had fun.”

Jorginho emphasised the importance of focusing on their performances, winning games and not dwelling on Manchester City’s results. With a touch of humour, he suggested that Arsenal fans could try praying or lighting a candle in hopes of the league leaders stumbling in the final stretch.

“What to do first is win our matches,” Jorginho added. “Then, I don’t know, each with their belief.

“Those who could pray, light a candle… just kidding. The most important thing is that we win our matches. If we think about them and we don’t win, it’s no use. Then we’ll see what happens.”

Currently, Arsenal sit one point behind Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, with only three Premier League games remaining.

The Gunners will face Brighton & Hove Albion, Nottingham Forest, and Wolverhampton Wanderers in their quest to clinch the title.

Meanwhile, City have a game in hand and will play against Everton, Chelsea, Brighton, and Brentford, as well as two Champions League semi-final fixtures against Real Madrid.
