Arsenal’s upcoming weekend game against Brighton & Hove Albion may be a bit smoother for the Gunners, as their opponents face an injury blow following their 5-1 home defeat by Everton.

Brighton’s dismal performance saw Solly March, a key player in their campaign, limp off the field with what appears to be a hamstring problem, casting doubts over his availability for the critical fixture.

During Monday’s game, Everton’s counter-attacking prowess exposed Brighton’s weaknesses, with Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dwight McNeil scoring braces while they also forced an own goal from Jason Steele.

Though Alexis Mac Allister managed to snatch a consolation goal for Brighton, it was hardly enough to save face. Everton’s impressive performance raised eyebrows ahead of their next game against Manchester City and prompted Brighton supporters to question their team’s capacity for European ambitions.

Injuries have plagued Brighton’s squad, with March’s suspected hamstring issue adding to an already lengthy list, including Joel Veltman, Jakub Moder, Adam Lallana, Tariq Lamptey, and Jeremy Sarmiento.

The loss of March, who has contributed seven goals and seven assists in the Premier League this season, could prove significant for Brighton in their final push for European football.

Arsenal, on the other hand, may welcome this opportunity to edge closer to their title aspirations.

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi, clearly frustrated with his team’s current situation, was reluctant to provide a clear timeframe for March’s return. However, it is unlikely that March will feature in the upcoming match against Arsenal or the following week’s clash against Newcastle United.

Arsenal will look to seize the moment and capitalise on Brighton’s misfortune. As Mikel Arteta’s squad prepares for the clash, they’ll be acutely aware of the stakes at hand.

Securing victory against an injury-stricken Brighton would provide much-needed momentum in their bid to keep pace with Manchester City with games rapidly running out.
